Milligan to host information session at Walters State

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Nov. 19, 2012) — The Admissions Office at Milligan College will host an information session for its bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Walters State Community College’s Morristown campus.

The information session will be held in the Foundations Room, located in the Dr. Jack E. Campbell College Center Building. Visitors will receive information on a variety of topics, such as academic coursework and financial aid. No preregistration is required to attend.

Milligan and Walters State Community College announced early in November an articulation agreement that will enable Milligan to offer its Bachelor of Science degree in child and youth development on Walters State’s Morristown campus. Milligan will begin offering classes at Walters State in January.

Milligan’s early childhood program allows adults who have already completed at least two years of work experience and about two years of college—either at Walters State or elsewhere—to complete the child and youth development major in 18-23 months.

Classes will meet one night a week at the Walters State Morristown campus. The program is cohort-based and will be taught in conjunction with Milligan’s on-campus program. Courses will be delivered to Morristown using interactive televideo technology. The technology allows students to interact with other students and teachers on Milligan’s main campus. The cohort that begins in January will meet on Thursday evenings.

Prospective students can also learn more about Milligan’s Master of Education program. The M.Ed. program includes both initial licensure and advanced degree options. The initial licensure degree is typically a 15-month professional educational program that allows students to earn their teaching certificate or license and their degree. The advanced program is for current teachers seeking professional development and their master’s degree. Advanced M.Ed. students have the option of completing their coursework completely online or in a traditional classroom setting.
